Participant Focused Care: Integrating Patient and Family Centered Care into Clinical Research

Wednesday, September 27, 2017
1:00 - 2:00 PM ET

Patient and family centered care is an important concept in healthcare. We are moving away from the paternalistic, disease focused approaches to a model where the needs, preferences, and values of the patient and family are incorporated into the care plan. There are many models of patient and family centered care. During this webinar we will discuss the overarching concepts of patient and family centered care and how we can integrate the concepts into clinical research. We will also discuss how participant focused care fits into our practice, how we can better meet the needs, preferences, and values of those participating in clinical research, and the challenges and barriers to integrating participant focused care into our practice.

Presented by:

Tamara Kempken Mehring, MSN, BSN, RN
Clinical Research Unit Clinical Nurse Specialist
University Hospital
